A Weekend in Litchfield County, Connecticut:
I just returned from a wonderful weekend in Litchfield County, CT.  Amazing area.  Especially in early fall.  The weather was fantastic, but we were a bit too early for the leaves.  We stayed at a great place call The Boulders Inn.  The inn is in New Preston, CT.  It sits right on beautiful Lake Waramaug (also a CT state park with camping by the same name on the other side of the lake).
We biked, hiked and enjoyed the lake.  We also went to the Garlic Festival in Bethlehem, CT and ate more fried food than one should in a single day.  We had a divine meal at the West Street Grill in the town of Litchfield.  We also had a fun wine tasting at Hopkins Vineyard.  We were surprised by how good their wine was.  If you have time, check out the amazing baked goods at the Bantam Bread Company.  We had a carrot loaf that brought tears to our eyes!
If you’re itching to get out of the city, I would highly suggest looking at Litchfield County.  It just so happens that the NY Times did a story on it earlier in the week.  Check out the link below:
