joliive:

If you ever lived in Connecticut, you’ve likely heard of Dr. Mel Goldstein, or probably knew him better as Dr. Mel from News 8 as the incredibly happy guy who did the weather.
Unfortunately, Dr. Mel passed away as a result to an illness he’s been battling with for years.
I fondly remember watching News 8 with my grandmother when I was younger because she loved to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune not to mention she loved Dr. Mel’s attitude and thought he was such a nice guy and the fact that he was right more times than not didn’t hurt either.
Thank you Dr. Mel for predicting countless snow days during my school years and thank you for all you have done for the State of Connecticut, you will be missed.

When I first moved to philly, I’d watch the weather forecast online because Dr. Mel made me less homesick.
